Goodbye

Covid – 19 has come and changed the world and changed the lives for many of us.

This song is dedicated to those who weren’t lucky enough to survive this terrible pandemic. As we hopefully face the end of this nightmare we have been living in for almost two years, Let us not forget those who unfortunately will never know a life again without Covid -19.

To you all we say a sad and heartfelt ‘Goodbye’

You raise me up and those hands

As you watch Jack Stacey and I performing one of the great songs of recent years ‘you raise me up’ . You might wonder what the history is behind the hands and the church being held in the arms.

The town of New Ross was founded by William Marshal and his wife Isabelle in 1207. They went on to build the great St Mary’s Church in 1210 810 years ago. It is this church Isabelle is holding in the Mural on the Quay in New Ross. If you manage to visit our lovely town, You should make a point of paying a visit to this great church.

One of the great Christmas songs of all time is when a child is born. It was a huge hit for Johnny Mathis in 1976. Jack Stacey and I recorded it in the Parish Church in New Ross for a special recording by the team at Visit New Ross.

Our great parish church in New Ross was opened in 1902. My father sang in the choir in the church in the 30s and 40s so it was important for me to sing it in my own Parish Church.

On behalf of Maureen and myself we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and hope that 2021 is a better year than this one.
